Rocksmith delayed to 2012

The European release of Rocksmith has been pushed back to next year and Ubisoft is asking consumers not to import it.

A statement on the Rocksmith Facebook pageread: Rocksmith will not be available in Europe until 2012. This is due to music licensing and other external factors.

For those of you in Europe who plan to import the game, we want to advise you to do so at your own risk.”

The Xbox 360 and PS3 music game – which lets players plug in a real electric guitar via a special USB cable – is out in the US on October 18th. It is available as a standalone game with the cable for $79.99 or with a real Epiphone Les Paul Junior electric guitar for $199.99. It will arrive on PC in the US later this year.

The Xbox 360 version is region-locked, so UK buyers won’t be able to play it if they import it. Although the PS3 version isn’t region-locked, European players won’t be able to download extra tracks and DLC if they import it.

Rocksmith allows users to learn to play songs using a real guitar. It’s billed as a music experience for beginners and experienced guitarists, and features tracks from rock acts such as Nirvana, The White Stripes and Blur.
