Senior exec calls for opening up of casual games platforms

Writing exclusively for CasualGaming.biz, PopCap’s senior director of business development for Asia Pacific Giordano Bruno Contestabile has called for casual games publishers to open up their platforms in an effort to stimulate further growth in the sector.

While every MMO seeks to become the primary and possibly the only mean of online entertainment for gamers, does the same make sense in a casual context, where a much broader potential user base could be accessing your content from different platforms jumping from a game to the other without a second thought?” he writes.

It could be a shrewder move for online casual game operators to actually allow customers to bring their data, experience, achievements and circle of friends across different platforms and to make those platforms communicate with each others as much as possible.”
