SixthAxis takes aim at Eurogamer

TheSixthAxis has taken a major step in becoming a mainstream games website.

The firm is starting to attract advertisers to its site after racking up some 472,000 unique monthly visitors and almost 900,000 visits a month.

For an indie site with no backing from a major magazine publisher, we’re hugely happy with these figures,” site editor Peter Chapman told MCV.

This is good, solid traffic that isn’t just floating from aggregators or looking for cheap hits – it’s from people wanting to check us on a regular basis, and that number’s growing each month. This is what has attracted major advertisers to us in droves.”

Publishers that have already worked with TheSixthAxis include Sony, Bethesda and Microsoft.

We’re strong believers that the indie press is just as capable as the traditional press. We’re fans of sites like Eurogamer and CVG, but we also think the content we’re offering rivals those outlets both in terms of quality and, increasingly, in terms of quantity.”

Commercial director Stefan Walters added: The right editorial attracts and retains the right kind of reader – adults with a passion for gaming and the income to support this passion. TheSixthAxis has this box checked, making it a truly attractive outlet for publishers to
communicate through.”
