Sony fails to renew Bloodborne trademark ahead of release

Sony appears to have accidentally abandoned its second major trademark in as many months.

Last month, Sony failed to renew its US-registered trademark on The Last Guardian. An error that forced the company to confirm the long-awaited game was still in fact in development.

Now, it looks as if Sony has gone and done the same thing with Bloodborne – one day ahead of its launch, as it turns out. Sony’s trademark was granted August 19th, 2014, and was listed as abandoned yesterday ahead of today’s release of the PS4-exclusive in North America.

The blunder won’t affect Bloodborne’s launch or sales at all, and Sony will more than likely revive the trademark – as they did with The Last Guardian earlier this month.

Bloodborne arrives March 25th in mainland Europe and Australia, March 26th in Japan and March 27th in the UK.
