Sony Computer Entertainment America has launched a new third-party production team for PlayStation platforms.
Headed by former LucasArts lead producer Gio Corsi, the new team will work with the firm’s publishing partners to help bring their IP to Vita, PS3 and PS4.
Partners will also be able to use staff at the new branch to help with their own development process.
One of the first projects currently underway is Gearbox’s Borderlands 2 for Vita. Corsi said consumers can expect to see more ports, new IPs and localised products on PlayStation platforms thanks to the scheme.
“I’m really excited for our team to explore new opportunities on behalf of PlayStation,” said Corsi.
“Even though we’re brand new to PlayStation, we’ve got years of experience in this industry already under our belt. We already have a project underway, the recently announced PS Vita version of Borderlands 2. We are extremely excited to work with Iron Galaxy Studios on this project and I cannot wait to show and tell you more down the road.”
