"It’s too early to discuss this subject. Right now Unity is our game for new generation consoles."
That’s the official line from a Ubisoft developer, speaking to OXM, about the possibility of PS3 and Xbox 360 title Assassin’s Creed: Rogue being ported to PS4 and Xbox One.
And in the current climate of strained PR lingo, that’s probably as good as saying yes, we’ll be releasing it on next-gen consoles once the last-gen launch is well and truly wrapped up”. Or not. Such is the joy of interpreting corporate speak.
Ubisoft Sofia producer Ivan Balabanov added: "The [Unity] technology’s built from the ground up with a lot of reinventions of the systems behind it – essentially it’s a game that takes full advantage of the hardware, and what we wanted to do in our case is make a game for players who still haven’t made the transition."
