Square to grow Front Mission brand

A confident Square Enix reckons its mech fighting series Front Mission can find a wider audience in the West.

Traditionally, the 15-year-old Japanese franchise has been targeted at just core gamers. But Square believes the newest title, Evolved, will break another of its IPs into the US and Europe.

The Front Mission franchise is already hugely popular in Japan,” said Square Enix’s senior product manager Paul Benjamin. Front Mission Evolved will take it to a wider gaming audience and firmly introduce it to the Western markets.”

Front Mission Evolved, released on September 17th, is the first title in the series for Xbox 360 and PS3. It also switches the action to third-person.

This will help the title appeal to new audiences and introduce the series to the Western markets,” said Benjamin.
