Star Citizen executive producer departs Cloud Imperium

Star Citizen executive producer Alex Mayberry has quit his position at Cloud Imperium Games, with multiple reports stating the departure is for personal reasons.

Games Beatreports Cloud Imperium founder Chris Roberts’ brother Erin Roberts will be tasked with Mayberry’s workload – including the general handling of Star Citizen’s production.

Mayberryjoined Cloud Imperiumin 2014, following ten years at Blizzard that included production work on World of Warcraft and Diablo III.

In a separate but related bit of news, Cloud Imperium has opened a new studio in Frankfurt, Germany. The new office includes a number of ex-Crytek staff, such as studio chief Brian Chambers – known for his production work on Ryse.

The new branch will work under Foundry 42, a Manchester-based studio contributing to Star Citizen’s single-player campaign development and founded by the aforementioned Erin Roberts.

Star Citizen itself is due out in 2016 and has crowdfunded over $84m to date.
