Title to be digitally distributed, powered by Unreal Engine 3

Team 17 confirms Alien Breed remake

UK-based Worms developer Team 17 has confirmed it will be taking its old Amiga shooter Alien Breed to the next generation with an Unreal Engine 3-powered remake.

Continuing Team 17’s current distribution strategy, the game will be released digitally, though it’s not confirmed whether it will be found on platforms such as XBLA, PSN or Steam.

The news of Team 17’s return to the Alien Breed series first appeared on Develop last October, with studio director Martyn Brown revealing:

"It’s something we’ve always wanted to do, and despite being exceptionally close on a number of occasions to getting the right deal on various platforms, it never worked out. Fortunately sci-fi action is back in fashion, and we look forward to delivering Alien Breed – the details of which may surprise a few eople when we cough them out."

Brown recently praised Sony’s switch to digital titles for the upcoming PSPgo, telling Develop that “UMD never really got going”.
