The Sims Online returns for free

After failing to spark the imagination of The Sims fanbase first time out, EA has resurrected its MMO adaptation of its famous franchise under the new name EA Land.

Based on the architecture behind The Sims Online, the free-to-play title offers several improvements on the first game. The 12 separate cities of before have been combined to form one virtual super-city.

Interestingly, users are now able to upload custom-content. However, despite the immediate comparison this draws to Linden Labs’ Second Life, the fact that EA will be screening the content makes it significantly different.

A new in-game economy has also been put in place which, amongst other tings, allows users to buy the in-game currency (Simoleans) directly from Maxis.

You can visit the EA Land site here.
