THQ "never started" Saints Row 3DS

THQ never started production on a 3DS instalment in its popular Saints Row series, according to Danny Bilson.

The firm’s executive vice president of core games told GameSpot the development team had decided to work on other projects instead. News that Saints Row 3DS had been canned emerged last month.

We talking about doing a Saints Row 3DS game, but we never started it,” said Bilson. We have a couple of other things in development on the 3DS, but we wound up not starting that and starting a couple of other brands instead. There was no drama in any of that, honestly.”

Bilson also added that production costs were to blame for the cancellation of XBLA and PSN title Saints Row: Drive By, which was designed to interact with the upcoming Saints Row: The Third.

Honestly, it was an Xbox Live game that we started that was really good, but the costs were getting really high for the platform, so we shelved it,” he said. That’s all it is; it’s not really a big story.”
