Ubisoft has reported sales of €600m for the three months ended December 31st, 2010.
The publisher’s third quarter sales show a increase of 21.2 per cent when compared to €495m recorded during the same period last year. This exceeded initial forecasts of €520m.
Sales for the first nine months of Ubisoft’s financial year came in at €861m – a year-on-year increase of 30.3 per cent over 2010’s €661m.
Key sales drivers were Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, the publisher’s hugely popular dance portfolio and its strong presence on Microsoft’s newly-launched Kinect. The company also reported promising launches for Facebook title CSI: Crime City and the German release of The Settlers Online.
The video game industry is an industry of opportunities,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Creating new genres, innovating to attract new consumers and seizing the opportunities offered by new hardware lie at the heart of Ubisoft’s development and growth.
The record performance achieved in the third quarter, as well as the fact that three of our games were among the best sellers over the crucial Christmas period is further evidence of the relevance of our strategy.
Going forward, we intend to continue to innovate and pursue our refocus on key franchises in the high definition segment, while investing in upcoming opportunities in digital, in the causal segment and in future consoles, notably the 3DS and the NGP.”
