UK CHARTS: UFC 3 takes No.1

THQ is back at No.1 with UFC, however the game has failed to match the sales of the previous games in the series.

In fact, the first UFC release in 2009 outsold last week’s game by 3 to 1 during the same period, according to GfK Chart-Track.

It all marks a bleak few weeks for games retail, as sales of new games continues to struggle.

Last week’s No.1 Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has plummeted out of the Top Ten to No.12 following a 63 per cent dip in weekly sales.

It wasn’t all bleak news. Other games in the Top Ten, namely FIFA 12 (no.2), Modern Warfare 3 (no.3), Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (no.4), Battlefield 3 (no.5), Skylanders (no.7), Just Dance 3 (no.10) and Skyrim (no.9) all increased in sales week-on-week.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for Final Fantasy XIII-2 (no.6) and The Darkness 2 (no.8), which dropped in sales over the previous sales week.

The GfK Chart-Track Top 20:
1: UFC Undisputed 3 – THQ
