VIDEO: Bandai Namco releases launch trailer as The Witcher 3 campaign ramps up

The concluding chapter in CD Projekt Red’s trilogy of RPGs starring monster-slayer Geralt is days from release.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will land on PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, May 19th.

This follows two delays for the game, the latest pushing it from February into this month, as developer CD Projekt Red took extra time to polish the title’s ‘sheer size and complexity’.

Bandai Namco has now released a launch trailer for the game, which fits in with the series’ cinematic stylings.

This follows the placement of the cinema front and centre in its marketing push for the upcoming game.

The firm advertised the title alongside The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies before Christmas and, more recently, ahead of superhero blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron.

It has also been hosting The Witcher 3 Film Club with IGN, bringing back classic films that thematically tie in with the game to cinemas, such as Predator.

This is on top of TV ads alongside Game of Thrones and a YouTube masthead takeover in the UK the day before the title’s launch.

Expectations are high,” Bandai Namco UK product manager Phil Brannelly told MCV.

Pre-orders are high. The level of buzz and positive intentions from the industry and gamers is through the roof. This is building into one of the most exciting launches of the year, if not the game of the year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is developer CD Projekt’s crowning achievement. The studio is breaking new ground and redefining the single-player RPG for the new generation of consoles.”

Titled ‘A Night to Remember’, the video sees staple anti-hero Geralt of Rivia battling what appears to be an invisible vampire-like creature.
