X Factor game confirmed

The X Factor game is real – and MCV can confirm that the publisher is Koch Media’s Deep Silver.

We first exclusively uncovered the game last week – this morning Deep Silver publishing has confirmed it recently forged a deal with brand owner FremantleMedia and Simon Cowell’s production company SyCo.

French outfit Hydravision will develop the music talent show’s singing game spin-off for 360, PS3 and Wii.

The X Factor Video Game is due in Q4 and will be released across a raft of European territories where the show is aired, including UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

It’s not Koch’s first big licence signing, MCV understands – we revealed two months ago that the publisher was secretly working on a still unannounced Wii and DS Doctor Who game.

To be able to work with a phenomenal brand such as The X Factor is an incredible opportunity,” commented Georg Larch, international marketing director, Deep Silver.

The X Factor is a truly global brand which is instantly recognisable to thousands of gamers and TV fans around the world. With the developer, Hydravision Entertainment, Deep Silver will be creating a game that is a true adaptation of the show from the hilarity of the auditions to the excitement of the live show; we will be testing the singing skills of the player and will feature the sharp critique of the judges.”

The X Factor, which began airing in 2004, has become a major hit across the 20 countries its format is aired in – show mastermind Cowell is set to launch the series in the US soon, ensuring its global status.

Mark Newton, EVP Licensing EMEA at Fremantle added: The X Factor has proven a massive global success with local versions being produced now in more than 20 countries including France, Belgium, Denmark and more, and through FME’s global network we can take advantage of market opportunities and give fans even more ways to engage with the brand on different platforms.

"We needed partners with the same multi-territory approach and commitment to quality, so Hydravision and Deep Silver were a natural choice.”
