Xmas boost predicted for Shred

Despite the poor performance from Tony Hawk’s Shred so far at retail, the key Christmas period could yet bring success to the title, Activision has claimed.

Yesterday MCV reported that the game sold just 3,000 units in its first week on sale in the US, a number that represents a new low for a series that has fallen dramatically from grace.

However, speaking to Gamasutra Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg reckons that the game shouldn’t be written off just yet.

There’s hopefully a method to that madness,” he stated. For the first time we’re targeting that game to kids. It’s a gift-oriented game, but, that said, we need to build awareness for the game still.

I think you’ll hopefully see a bigger ramp-up as we get further into the gift giving season.”
