Coca-Cola and Doritos creep into smash-hit app

Zynga inserts paid for words into Draw Something

Zynga is looking to increase its revenue streams in the recently acquired Draw Something by allowing advertisers to pay for new words.

As reported by Adage, the social games giant has begun including words such as Doritos and Coca-Cola, paid for directly by other companies.

Previously only supporting adverts placed at the bottom of the free version of the app, and not at all when purchased, companies such as The National Hockey League have also bought new terms such as puck, Zamboni and slap shot.

These new words will be made available in all versions of the title.

The new revenue stream comes after Draw Something’s daily usage fell sharply from a peak of 15 million, to around ten million, according to analyst group App Data.

This means that the iOS hit lost 33 per cent of its daily userbase in just 30 days.

Zynga bought Draw Something and developer Omgpop for $210 million in March.
