Two games from Zynga’s Japanese division will be ported to U.S. markets.
While many companies have been trying to break their way into the burgeoning Asian market, this is one of the few attempts to bring games back over the Pacific.
The move is rare enough, but it is the first for the giant of social gaming.
Less surprising is that the release of these role playing games comes after the success of DeNA’s Rage of Bahamut on the app store.
The two games, Montopia and Ayakashi: Ghost Guild, are original titles from Zynga’s Japanese studio, and have already been on the Japanese market for eight months according to GamesBeat.
The RPGs will be translated into Chinese, Korean, and English.
“We’re very excited about expanding to RPGs and bringing these games to the global market,” said Zynga’s general manager of games Scott Koenigsberg.
“Here in the U.S. the RPG market has blossomed recently. It may have been an underserved market here.”
Zynga’s Japanese studio was founded in 2010 to bring the company’s games to the global audience.
