Resurgent Namco Bandai posts £64m profit

A number of top releases and an impressive display of strength in Japan has helped Namco Bandai to a very strong H1.

The publisher posted a profit of 64m for the six months ending September 30th. In the same period in 2010 it reported a 15m loss.

Revenues climbed 121.4 per cent to 695m.

Namco’s releases this year have included Ridge Racer 3D, Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon, Ace Combat: Assault, a string of iOS and XBLA releases and of course Dark Souls, which has to date shipped 1.5m copies.

PS3 RPG Tales of Xillia has sold 740k copies while there has been other Japanese success too, including PSP dating game AKB1/48 2.

In total the firm shipped 7.2m software units in its financial H1. 1m went to Europe, 1.9m to the US and 4m to Japan.
