GungHo’s Puzzle & Dragons makes $3.76m per day

Japanese smartphone game Puzzle & Dragons is making some serious cash for owner GungHo.

Serkantoto.com reports that the iOS and Android game made an eye-watering $133m in April alone, according to GungHo president Kazuki Morishita. That equates to a staggering $3.76m per day.

GungHo’s overall sales reached 12bn ($199m) in April. That’s a year-on-year increase of 1,142.8 per cent. Sales for the quarter ending March 31st jumped 800 per cent to 30.9bn ($303m) while profit soared 7,400 per cent to 18.6bn ($183m).

At the time of Serkantoto’s report GungHo had a market cap of $10bn – more than Zynga, Gree, DeNA and Mobage combined.

Games Industry adds that GungHo’s share price jumped by over a quarter in the first few minutes of trading today elevating its market cap to 1.54tr ($15.1bn). That puts it above Nintendo and only $1.6bn behind Activision.
