Microsoft drops Xbox 360 250 GB price in India

Microsoft India has announced a price drop for the 250 GB model of the Xbox 360.

The 250 GB model will now retail for Rs 21,990 (previously Rs 24,990), while the 250 GB Kinect bundle will now carry an MRP of Rs Rs 31,990 (previously 34,890). Prices of the 4 GB models remain unchanged.

The timing of the price drop is ideal, as the games business – particularly console gaming – generally thrives during the summer vacations, and it also coincides with the Xbox Live Gold Rush promotion, which is currently underway.

We are committed to offer great experiences to our consumers at compelling price points. This price drop on 250GB SKUs, coupled with our recently launched Xbox Live Gold Rush promo, will provide great value to our community of fans and gamers,” said Anshu Mor, Director – Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft India.

Interestingly, the price drop means that the 250 GB Xbox 360 is now cheaper than the 500 GB PlayStation 3, which is priced Rs 22,990.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has remained mum on its launch plans for the Xbox One in India, which were expected to be made public this month. The console is expected to launch in India this September.
