Pokémon 3DS game confirmed

The Nintendo 3DS will get its first game based on the mammoth Pokmon franchise this October, but it’s not a traditional RPG.

Pokmon Rumble Blast is a 3D action game that follows the formula of 2009 WiiWare title Pokmon Rumble. Players can battle waves of toy Pokmon alone or with friends and collect up to 600 wind-up critters.

It uses the 3DS’ StreetPass feature to allow players to challenge other gamers’ toy Pokmon on the move and view their Mii characters in-game. The game also includes giant boss Pokmon to battle.

Pokmon Rumble Blast delivers instant Pokmon gratification,” said Nintendo of America’s executive VP of sales and marketing Scott Moffitt.

The controls are intuitive and simple enough for anyone to pick up and play, while new battle modes, more than 600 toy Pokmon and social play opportunities offer deep experiences for long-time fans.”

The game arrives on October 24th in the US. A firm UK date has not yet been revealed.

In Japan the game is known as Super Pokmon Scramble and will hit shelves this month.
