Tesco reveals new games boss

Sarah Kaye will be Tesco’s new senior buying manager for video games, the retailer has announced.

She will take the role from Monday, February 28th.
Kaye joined the supermarket giant in June last year as buying manager for games. The sales exec was recruited from Call of Duty publisher Activision, where she worked as grocery channel manager for three years.

She replaces out-going games chief John Stanhope, who has taken the role of senior buying manager for toys at the supermarket.

Stanhope has been in charge of Tesco’s games offer for two years. During his tenure, Tesco drastically increased the size of its head office team, launched a pre-owned offer and has significantly increased its market share.

He previously held roles at EUK and Woolworths.

Tesco told MCV in October that it hoped to have a 20 per cent market share in games by 2012, which would make it the firm’s biggest entertainment category.
