UK Software Sales Monitor: Market falls to £11.7m

A lack of major product saw the UK games market drop significantly to 11.73m this week – a fall of 34 per cent.

Unit sales also dipped 24 per cent to 519,196 for the week ending September 17th.

Retail will hope the figures are just a blip as the market had been showing signs of recovery.Dead Island held No.1. It has sold more in two weeks than any other Deep Silver game has in its lifetime.

The most successful new game released last week was one of those increasingly popular HD collections, with Sony’s God of War Collection: Volume II coming in at No.35n Next week’s data should show a significant surge in retail performance, with both Microsoft’s Gears of War 3 on store shelves and Codemasters’ F1 2011 out on Friday, September 23rd.
