Xperia Play nabs Lara Croft exclusive

Sony Ericsson has signed a deal with Square Enix that will see Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light released as an Android exclusive on Xperia Play.

The game, which is already available on the Apple App Store, Xbox Live, PSN and PC, will mark its arrival to the Android mobile platform this November.

As part of the deal, other Square Enix games will launch on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play mobile gaming phone in months to come.

With a unique control pad and immersive graphics that enable an enriched gaming experience, Xperia Play is bringing a unique and exciting dimension to smartphone gaming," said Square Enix Europe’s head of mobile Ben Cusack.

This is just the start of what we plan to do together, but right now, we are delighted to be able to show off the full potential of our games with this innovative smartphone, bringing them to life as our creators intended.”

Sony Ericsson’s head of content and marketing strategy Tim Harrison added: Xperia Play continues to redefine smartphone gaming. By bringing some of the world’s most popular console games to the Xperia Play we’re delivering an unrivalled smartphone gaming experience.”

Xperia Play launched in the US and Europe earlier this year.
