Rumour: Wii U launch date set in US, delayed in Europe

A US launch date for the Wii U has been confirmed according to one report, while another has the console missing its launch window in Europe due to manufacturing issues.

GoNintendo has passed on word from a supposed GameStop employee source that Nintendo’s upcoming hardware will arrive Stateside the week of Black Friday. That pegs the US launch sometime between November 19th and November 23rd.

Non confirmation from Nintendo yet, but it certainly makes a great deal of sense for Nintendo to want the Wii U available in time for the busiest shopping day out of the year.

Elsewhere on the web and in the world, CVG is reporting that Wii U may have its launch in Europe pushed back a month over manufacturing troubles specifically relating to the Wii U GamePad controller.

Nintendo declined to comment when asked about the potential delay. Up to this point, the company has only listed a 2012 launch window for the console in all announced regions.
