Electronic Arts has appointed Samantha Ebelthite as its new UK and Ireland Country Manager. Ebelthite takes the reins from former boss Shaun Campbell, who has been moved into an alternate, and unspecified, position after almost five years leading the company’s UK activities (thanks, PCGamesInsider).
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ebelthite joined the developer-publisher in February 2018 as head of sales for UK and Ireland. She was promoted to country manager in May 2019.
Before joining EA, Ebelthite held positions at the pharmaceutical company, GSK. She describes herself as “an ambitious and focused team player with a proven track record of delivering against business targets” and lists her key strengths as “building long-term business strategy and vision, developing lasting relationships, [and] cross-functional team working”.
As part of its drive to support “up-and-coming studios by showcasing unique, innovative games to more players on all platforms”, Electronic Arts recently announced it has partnered with Zoink Games, Glowmade, and Hazelight Studios to bring “three new promising and independent development projects coming to consoles and PC”.
Revealing the new partnerships at EA Play’s E3 2019 presentation, EA says “the success of these partnerships has expanded the collaborative charter with new independent developers”.
Following Fe, Zoink’s next game is Lost in Random which is said to offer “a unique spin on puzzles and combat”. Making its EA Originals debut, Glowmade has revealed RustHeart, a game in which players can “forge an endearing friendship with a courageous robot hero”. Hazelight’s follow up to the critically-acclaimed A Way Out has not been revealed, but EA reports the unannounced title “builds on the studio’s expertise and success” and will offer “a new cooperative experience”.
