Saturo Iwata takes control at Nintendo of America

Nintendo’s global president Saturo Iwata is taking on a second job – CEO of Nintendo of America.

The move is unexpected considering the relative strength of Nintendo’s American performance in its otherwise disappointing financial results released this morning.

Current NoA boss Tatsumi Kimishima is to become Nintendo’s global MD and will shortly transfer to the publisher’s Kyoto headquarters.

The knock on effect is that the current general managers of both corporate analysis & administration and general affairs – roles that Kimishima will absorb into his duties – will both step down in the summer.

NoA’s COO and president Reggie Fils-Aime will now report directly to Iwata.

There’s now word yet of any structural changes in Europe, but considering the region’s dire performance in the last financial year things are unlikely to remain static for long.
