SAVE THE DATE: Games Media Awards return to London on October 14th

The Games Media Awards will return on October 14th.

Taking place at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, near Holborn tube station in London, the awards celebrate the best of games writing and the games media in the UK.

Last year, the revamped event gave out the majority of its prizes to individual writers and teams – and the content they produce – after judging by smaller, more focused panels who were able to properly consider every entrant’s work and achievements.

Nearly 300 people attended the event, which is still the single-most attended event by UK video games press.

Winners in 2014 included: Wesley Yin-Poole (News Writer), Christian Donlan (Features Writer), Matthew Castle (Games Critic), Kirk McKeand (Rising Star), Edge (Editorial Team – Print) and Kotaku UK (Editorial Team – Online). The Video prize went to VideoGamer TV, while Daft Souls took the Podcast accolade.

Two special votes, one by consumers in the weeks before the event and one on the night by attendees, went to IGN UK Podcast – Episode 243: The Blabber Dook (Gamer’s Choice) and Matthew Castle (Journalists’ Journalist).

All those awards, plus two exciting additions, will be on the billing this year – including Playfire’s consumer-oriented Player’s Choice prize.

Official entries open in early May. Any questions (or even suggestions) before then should go togma@nbmedia.com.

If you’re interested in sponsoring the event or getting involved in a more formal capacity, contact Michael French on mfrench@nbmedia.com or call 01992 515 303.
