Simon Byron joins Curve Digital as publishing director

Premier PR’s Simon Byron is leaving the company to make the jump into publishing.

The former journalist turned PR guru will in July join UK studio Curve Digital, which now claims to be the largest publisher of indie games on consoles in the world, as publishing director.

I’ve been very fortunate to have a career full of dream jobs – but joining Curve Digital at this pivotal moment in the company’s history is genuinely the dreamiest,” Byron said. I’m really excited about working with some of the biggest names in game development and bringing new titles to console audiences – I can’t wait to get stuck in.

Working at Premier has, without question, been the best thing I’ve done in my time in the business. The work we have done – and continue to do – is an absolute honour to be a part of. I leave the team in incredibly rude health and can’t wait to watch their continued success.”

Curve MD Jason Perkins added: Simon’s appointment marks the start of the next phase for Curve Digital as we look to build upon our recent transition from development studio to multi-format games publisher. We’ve long admired Simon’s work and we’re absolutely thrilled he’ll be joining the team.”

Byron has over the years worked on key brands such as Guitar Hero and the Batman Arkham series. In recent years he has also authored two non-fiction books on the games industry and branched out into games development. He is also the co-host of industry podcast One Life Left.

As a result of the move, Gareth Williams has been promoted to senior account directorer for games at Premier. Also on the team will be creative director Leigh Debbage, digital and social strategy director Chris Rice and director of home entertainment and lifestyle Steven Pearson. Byron will leave the company at the end of June.
