Sony to reveal VR headset at GDC – report

Sony will reveals its rumoured VR gaming headset at GDC next week and prototypes have already been sent out to developers, a new report claims.

Edge cites an alleged third-party developer with a prototype of the device already in hand. The source claims Sony’s hardware is far superior” to the first Oculus Rift model – though it should be noted that Oculus’ Crystal Cove dev-kit will exceed the original Rift’s capabilities as well.

The source also states that there is little in terms of software for the peripheral, but that the company’s ‘Driving the future of innnovation,’ GDC session on March 18th is expected to produce first-party content and possibly a tech demo.

The report further claims that Sony isn’t pressuring its internal and first-party developers to incorporate VR technology into games.

When contacted about the report, a Sony rep told Edge: We do not comment on rumour and speculation."
