Sony unveils Sharp Shooter accessory

Sony has announced a PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter gun attachment will hit stores in time for Killzone 3 next February.

The first party peripheral houses both the PS3 Move motion and navigation controllers to transform them into a machine gun-style device. It also features a reload button, firing mode selector and adjustable shoulder stock.

It is scheduled to go on sale in February 2011 to coincide with Sony’s upcoming PS3 shooter sequel Killzone 3 which boasts 3D and Move compatibility. An MSRP of $39.99 has been announced for the device in the US.

Sony’s product marketing manager for hardware Anand Agarwal said on the US PlayStation Blog: We believe the upcoming PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter will make motion control for shooter games quite irresistible.

It’s perfect for gamers who want to experience the most realistic action possible – it will truly offer the most intuitive and immersive control experience ever found in a shooter game.”

The gun has been designed to work with games such as SOCOM 4, Killzone 3, Time Crisis: Razing Storm and Dead Space Extraction.

A host of third party Move gun peripherals are already on the market including the Pistol from Hubb, Alien Gun from BigBen, VX Blaster from Venom, Game On’s Laser Blaster, Mad Catz’ 3D Shot and Speedlink’s Peacemaker.
