Square Enix and Legendary team up for Life is Strange TV show

Cult episodic game Life is Strange is being turned into a live action TV show.

The series, to be distributed digitally, is being made in a collaboration between Legendary Digital Studios and Square Enix.

DJ2 Entertainment’s Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons are handling production and development duties. The firm also recently helped Sony out with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film.

No release window has been outlined for the project.

The first episode of Life is Strange launched at the start of 2015, with another four parts being released over the course of the year. The game saw its fair share of critical acclaim and won a number of awards.

The title has sold in excess of 1m units, with a boxed release hitting shelves at the beginning of 2016. Speaking to MCV earlier this year, developer Dontnod described 2015 as the most successful year it has had to date off the back of Life is Strange.

Life is Strange isn’t the only game property Legendary is involved with at the moment, either. The firm signed the rights for a live action Detective Pikachu film just last week.
