Stand Up to Cancer announces October gaming charity drives

Stand Up to Cancer – a joint fundraising campaign between Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 – is pushing into the world of gaming in October with its Game On event.

Encouraging people to set up their own charity tournaments, livestreams, or any specific game-related thing that can raise money, Stand Up to Cancer is pushing people to play any sort of game they want – though the emphasis is on video games.

Said emphasis can be found in the promotional video for the October charity drive, which brings together IP from EA Games, Activision and Sega – as well as narration from Doug ‘Geralt from the Witcher’ Cockle – in a rousing call to arms against the illness.

Cockle said: “I am so pleased to be involved in Stand Up To Cancer’s 2018 campaign, bringing together the gaming community to help take on cancer and ban it from the game of life. Cancer sucks. It’s touched my life and will have touched many of your own lives, so it really means a lot to me to be able to use my work and my passion to support Stand Up To Cancer, and the research it funds.

“It was a lot of fun doing the voice-over for all these cool characters from an incredible range of games. This horrible disease affects so many of us and it’s about time we got payback once and for all. Together we can make a difference. Through Game On, gamers everywhere can do what they love and raise money for life-saving research at the same time. Get in the game…Stand Up To Cancer!”

More information on the October event/s can be found on the Stand Up to Cancer Game On page.
