Standalone 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil headed to PS3, Xbox 360 only

After launching Euro 2012 as an expansion to FIFA 12, EA Sports will once again go the standalone physical route for its next tournament release – 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

The big surprise, however, is that the game will only release on PS3 and Xbox 360, skipping PS4, Xbox One and PC.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is set for release on 17th April and promises several improvements over FIFA 14. These include the ability to accelerate, decelerate, and change direction quickly on and off the ball, 100 new animations, and new crowd effects.

The game will feature 203 national teams, 7,469 players, 19 officially licensed managers, and 21 new stadiums. The Road to the FIFA World Cup tournament mode returns, with EA claiming that it is the most immersive tournament mode from any EA Sports title.”

Asked on Twitter why the game was skipping PS4 and Xbox One, EA Sports responded, We are making the best game we can for our largest audience, which is still on Xbox 360 and PS3.”

For the new consoles, FIFA14 will have a range of World Cup content and tournaments within FIFA Ultimate Team. More news closer to the tournament,” EA added.
