Survey: Mobile gaming will triple to $7.5b by 2015

A survey released by digital goods researching group SuperData predicts the mobile gaming market will expand to $7.5 billion worldwide by 2015—tripling the current representative market.

At the moment Asia is the largest market for mobile titles, and is projected to hit $3.2 billion (grabbing 40% of the total market) by 2015.

They add that freemium games account for 55% of all mobile game revenues, while advertising only makes up for 6%. Data shows that between 3.5% and 10% of freemium players end up converting to paying users.

The survey also finds that most users spend between $8 and $15 per month, and that the average mobile gamer, regardless of gender, lies between the ages of 24-34.

The mobile gaming market is key to building a successful strategy,” Janelle Benjamin, SuperData’s VP of Research stated in the report. Only by capitalizing on the early momentum can game companies establish a sustainable footprint for the longterm.”
