Tekken 7 claims series’ first No.1 in almost 20 years

Bandai Namco’s PS4, Xbox One and PC fighter Tekken 7 has debuted at the top of the UK All Formats Top 40.

It’s the first Tekken title to claim the top spot since Tekken 3 for the PS1 way back in 1998. The most recent Tekken release, Tag Tournament 2, charted at No.2 in 2012. 2009’s Tekken 6, meanwhile, managed only No.8 in its first week.

Overwatch holds onto No.2 for the second successive week as price promotions to celebrate its first birthday continue, while last week’s chart topper, Warner’s Injustice 2, drops to third place.

VR exclusive Star Trek: Bridge Crew debuts at No.16, with Milestone’s racer MXGP 3 hitting 22nd in its debut week.

ChartTrack has also announced that Dixons Carphone and Gameseek have as of this week begun contributing sales data to the UK charts.

Here’s the UK Top 10 in full for the week ending June 3rd:

1. Tekken 7 (Bandai Namco)
2. Overwatch (Blizzard)
3. Injustice 2 (Warner Bros)
4. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)

6. Prey (Bethesda)
