Terraria 2 plans include infinite worlds

Terraria creator Andrew Spinks has openly discussed plans for a direct sequel to Re-Logic’s hit indie RPG.

While Terraria 2 will maintain those certain established mechanics that made the first so popular, some exciting new design possibilities have come about – including more biome diversity and infinite worlds.

[The game will] have a lot in common with the original. It’s gonna be quite different as well. I really want to expand on the whole Terraria universe," Spinks told RPS.

Spinks later clarified to Joystiq that while the plan is in place, development has yet to begin for the sequel.

"Terraria 2 is definitely something that will be happening but contrary to several of the articles that went live today I have not started development," Spinks said.

"I have a list of features and mechanics I want the game to have but that is the extent of the development at this point.”

As for the original Terraria: Spinks notes that the recently released 1.2 update will likely be the last major update for the game, but that he still plans to finish the endgame progression” for the current version in the coming months.
