The International 6 has the biggest eSports prize pool ever

The community funded prize pool for The International 6 has become the largest prize pool in eSports history.

Currently the prize pool sits at $18,571,128 although that will continue to grow until the competition is over on August 13th. Many are expecting the prize pool to break the $20,000,000 barrier before the funding period comes to a close.

Valve contributed $1.6 million as the base prize pool, with the remainder coming from in game transactions. 25% of all Battle Pass and Battle Pass level purchases is added to the prize pool.

The record was previously held by The International 5, last year’s version of the biggest Dota event of the season. TI5 had a prize pool of $18,429,613 with the winners, Evil Geniuses, walking away with $6,634,661.

As The International 6 has beaten last years total every Battle Pass owner will be granted three ‘Trust of the Benefactor’ treasures. These include in game items such as a 2016 immortal, an arcana set or even one of a limited number of Dota 2’s most sought after cosmetic items such as the Dragonclaw Hook or a Fire Baby Roshan.
