The Uncharted movie has a new director but still no release window

Shawn Levy has been signed as the new director for the Uncharted film that has been in development for years.

Levy is best known as the director of both Night At The Museum films and Real Steel, although he was also an executive producer on Stranger Things.

As reported by Deadline, Levy is taking over from Joe Carnahan who also wrote the current version of the script. Carnahan has moved over to the upcoming Bad Boys For Life leaving the door open for Levy to take the helm.

The film itself is on fast track according to Deadline’s report, although up until this point development hasn’t exactly been speedy. The movie has supposedly been in the works for years, with multiple directors and actors attached to it at one point or another. Mark Wahlberg and Seth Rogen were supposedly attached at one point.

There is no word on when the film will actually launch, once it was on track for a 2016 launch but that is obviously no longer happening. At this point we are probably looking at late 2018 at the earliest.
