Time called on Wii’s Rock Band Network

Develop Harmonix has called time on the Wii arm of the Rock Band Network. From tomorrow, no new content will be released on the service.

RBN allowed users to create their own tracks for use in the game. Harmonix had until now been manually converting tracks uploaded by Xbox 360 users and transferring them to both the PS3 and Wii.

"Next Tuesday (January 18th) will also be the last scheduled batch of Rock Band Network songs brought over to the Wii," Harmonix revealed on its forums.

"With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process these additional tracks we’re no longer able to continue submitting RBN content to the Wii.

"Regular Wii DLC, and RBN releases for the 360 and PS3 will continue uninterrupted."
