Top 100 Women in Games: Alice Rendell

Alice Rendell is a game designer with particular interest in concept, narrative and characters.

Due to her love of storytelling and an immense fondness of video games, Alice decided to study Computer Game Design at the University of Wales, Newport, which lead to her first job as a game designer in Ooblada, Paris.

Later she moved to the mobile game company Kobojoand eventually joined them in their move to Scotland, where they set up a second studio based in Dundee.

She is now working with ex-Final Fantasy devs on new online-JRPG Zodiac, which has been one of the highlights of her career.

Alice not only loves the philosophical and psychological approach to game design, but is a strong believer in sharing this information with the games community, such as with analytical articles, as well as talks for various universities and events.

Alice has also been involved with the IGDA over the years as a member, scholar and volunteer and is now on the Board of Directors for the IGDA Scotland.

As a strong believer in diversity in the games industry, Alice is making steps with both the IGDA and with the games she works on, to help influence and highlight this need for more diversity in both the developer community and in the games we make.
