Top 100 Women in Games: Ann Scantlebury

It may sound hard to believe given her now prominent position of the host of the One Life Left video games radio show, but Scantlebury’s career in games started as a joke.

[Games journalist] Ste Curran wanted a female news reader for a few episodes of a radio show about videogames,” she recalls. I knew nothing about games.

That was nine years ago. Since then we’ve recorded One Life Left around the world, hosted events like Marioke, and I even know what a Drivatar is.”

One of the episodes she is most proud of invited women developers, artists and journalists to talk about and celebrate their work.

This year Scantlebury wants to do even more, utilising her experience as an audio producer and director, and four years working in audiobooks to actually help make games.
