Top 100 Women in Games: Jo Bartlett

Before joining the games sector, Jo Bartlett worked in PR for galleries, film festivals and DVD releases.

She moved to Jackie Cooper PR working on PlayStation’s sponsorship and cultural projects, which saw her ‘hooked’ on the games industry.

She continued across various agencies working on PlayStation’s PR activities, as well as agency side public relations for EA and THQ.

And then, three years ago, she became Nintendo’s UK PR Boss.

I like the games industry’s fast paced, constantly evolving, and pioneering nature, and having come from a cultural PR background, I still enjoyed being part of an industry that plays a part in contemporary culture and which so many people feel passionate about,” she tells MCV.

Also, having had experience of working in different sectors, I can honestly say that the creativity and desire to push boundaries and drive our art-form forward, is inspirational.

"We truly have some of the worlds most talented creative pioneers in our field, and it’s always exciting to see what’s coming next.”

She says joining Nintendo has been her biggest achievement, working with talented creators and on iconic characters and brands including Mario, Zelda and Pokmon.

I feel very fortunate and proud to work with such a talented group of people, and to have had the opportunity to meet and talk to some of this industries leading luminaries," she says.

"Hardware launches are always exhilarating to work on, the next being the launch of New Nintendo 3DS.”

She adds: I’m looking forward to seeing how the industry continues to evolve over the coming years.

"Every year brings with it new advancements in both gaming and media and it’s exciting to be part of that journey.”
