UK CHARTS: Call of Duty holds firm

With just a week to go before the official Christmas number one is revealed, Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: World at War has enjoyed its fifth consecutive week at the top of the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40.

The WWII epic fought off stiff competition from Mario Kart Wii, which remains in second place, and EA’s critically loved FIFA ’09, which sits in third.

Sales of the top six games remained flat this week, with a three per cent sales increase for Need For Speed: Undercover being enough to move it into fourth place – while a three per cent sales drop for Brain Training sees it fall to fifth.

It’s another great week for Nintendo, which holds four titles in the Top Ten this week, with Wii Fit (number eight) and Wii Play (number seven) continuing to perform well.

Whilst there’s good news for Ubisoft too, as Prince of Persia leaps ten places into 20th position and Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party enters the chart in 25th place.

It has also been a great week for Sonic and friends, as Sonic Unleashed leapfrogs Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games with an 87 per cent sale spike. The game climbed 21 positions from 33rd to number 12

Lips also sneaks into the Top 40 this week, dancing into 39th position.
