UK games markets weekly value holds firm

The UK video games market weekly value has held firm after falling 14 per cent over the past two weeks.

According to MCV calculations, based on today’s Gfk-ChartTrack/ELSPA weekly report, the UK market has hit 20.3 million for the weekend ending June 27th. Unit sales dipped two per cent to 851, 942.

Sales were aided by a wealth of new releases including Fight Night Round 4, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Overlord II and Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits.

However, with the notable exceptions of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Wii Sports Resort, there are few major titles scheduled for release during July, suggesting the market will continue its weekly slide.
