VIDEO: Battlefield 4 compared on Xbox One and PS4, resolutions confirmed

Battlefield 4 is now available on current-gen machines and PCs in the US and for the first time gamers can see how the game stacks up on next-gen platforms.

As confirmed by Eurogamer, while the PS4 version of the shooter runs at a resolution of 1600×900 the Xbox One build manages just 1290×720 (720p).

The site notes that its analysis was based on near-final” build so changes remain a possibility, albeit a slim one.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway is that, in this near-finalised state, the PS4 offers a superior experience on several fronts,” the site stated. The resolution is higher at 1600×900, as compared to the tried and tested 1280×720 on Xbox One, suffering as it does for more visible aliasing artefacts. Visually, the PS4 has a marked advantage with ambient occlusion effects too, which simply isn’t matched on Microsoft’s platform with the build we played.”

Attention now turns to Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts which, if rumour is to be believed, sees an even bigger disparity between resolutions.

Battlefield 4 is released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this Friday (November 1st) and release alongside Xbox One on November 22nd and PS4 on November 29th.
