VIDEO – Search For A Star – Graduate devs get The Apprentice treatment

Can fledgling games developers stand up to the scrutiny of the experts and win themselves that vital first job? That’s the crux of a new web series launched this week, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at this year’s Search For A Star competition.

Final year students will battle to secure a job at one of several of the UK’s largest and best development studios. The series is being created by Develop, our sister title, in collaboration with games industry recruiters Aardvark Swift and Grads In Games.

The documentary series follows eight Search For A Star hopefuls as they make their way through the competition’s gauntlet. Their technical skills will be challenged and the best will make it through to the Interview From Hell. Think The Apprentice meets Dragon’s Den with a heavy emphasis on games and game development.

Check out the trailer below to get a taste of what the competition is like, and look forward to the four half-hour episodes which will be released on Develop over the coming weeks. Think you’ve got what it takes? Applications are now open for Search For A Star 2017. Best of luck!
