Vox Games gets official brand, hires UK writer

Vox Games, as it has been called since its announcement in January, has now received its official branding – Polygon.

The idea, the site claims, steams from the Greek poly gonia”, meaning many angles – this is supposedly a reflection of the editorial strategy put in place by the new portal.

The site has also bolstered itself with the appointment of a UK writer Emily Gera, who joins from Videogamer.com.

She joins a team already bursting with established names in the field of games journalism including Phil Kollar (Game Informer), Chris Grant (Joystiq), Brian Crecente (Kotaku), Russ Pits (The Escapist), Justin and Griffin McElroy (Joystiq), Russ Frushtick (MTV), Arthur Giles (Joystiq), Matt Leone (1UP) and Tracey Lien (Kotaku Australia)

While we’re thrilled to mark the end of the Vox Games era and introduce the beginning of the Polygon Age, we’re still a long way from sharing the final fruit of our labors, which is still mysteriously forecast for simply ‘2012′, the site reads.
