Company head leaves after just over a year in charge

Chris Hewish leaves Survios

Survios are on the lookout for a new studio head after Chris Hewish, who joined last year, departed the company.

Hewish came in as studio head for the virtual reality developer, after spending six years with Dreamworks Interactive and a previous 10 years with Activision. He helped to head up production and development at Survios, with last years release Raw Data reaching $1million in sales and securing $50million of funding for the outfit.

At GDC this year, the studio had also announced a new game, Sprint Vector, that will be coming to the HTC Vive in the future.

Whilst no reason has been given for Hewish’s departure, he told UploadVR in an interview "it was just time for us as we grew, certainly for me, it was a good time to start looking at other areas I can add value."

An offical statement from Survios read, "We’re a growing company and as a growing company it’s natural for changes to occur. Chris has made valuable contributions to our team and will be missed. We wish him the best on his future endeavors."
